The Odisha Special Teacher Association (OSTA) is a united body representing Special Educators across the state of Odisha. Established with a vision to ensure quality education for children with disabilities, OSTA works tirelessly to promote inclusive education and safeguard the professional rights of Special Educators.
Mission and Vision
OSTA’s mission is simple yet powerful — to ensure at least one permanent Special Educator in every school. The association envisions a future where every child with special needs receives proper academic, social, and emotional support in a barrier-free environment.
Core Objectives
1. Advocacy for Policy Implementation – Pushing for full enforcement of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016, which mandates the presence of qualified Special Educators in schools.
2. Recruitment and Service Conditions – Demanding regular recruitment drives, fair pay, and equal service benefits for Special Educators.
3. Promotion of Inclusive Education – Creating awareness and providing training to ensure children with disabilities are included in mainstream classrooms.
4. Student Empowerment – Ensuring children with special needs have access to assistive devices, resource materials, and equal learning opportunities.
Key Activities
Organizing seminars, workshops, and awareness campaigns on inclusive education.
Engaging with government departments like the School & Mass Education Department and the SSEPD Department to influence policy changes.
Building a strong network among Special Educators to share resources, strategies, and support.
